New aparthotel with 66 studios and modern facilities
Just opened officially Seaview, the iconic redeveloped building at Gevers Deynootweg 61 in Scheveningen. In recent years, former Seaview Offices has undergone a major metamorphosis with it now opening as an aparthotel. Owner RE:BORN together with operator NUMA unveiled the 66 new studios, which are now available to guests for both short-term and long-term stays. Seaview offers not only studios, but also one- or two-bedroom apartments and hotel rooms, thanks to the property's function-free layout and the Living+ concept. Visitors to Seaview can expect a unique experience in a historic building with contemporary comforts. The building carries a rich history that RE:BORN has integrated in a modern way. Thus, the grandeur of yesteryear is restored. CO2 savings of approximately 65% were also achieved during the renovation by preserving the existing building structure. Jouke Hennipman, technical developer at RE:BORN, is delighted with the opening of Seaview: "After an intensive renovation period of 1.5 years, today we can finally open the redeveloped Seaview as an aparthotel. We are very pleased with the final result and that we managed to achieve this with all partners. Personally, I am most proud of how well we managed to reflect the classic design in a modern way. During the execution we paid a lot of attention to the right detailing and that is reflected in the final result. Seaview has become a place that beautifully combines modernity and history. I hope guests will experience this unique concept."
Residents are also pleased with the redevelopment of Seaview. Ieteke Wegman, president of VvE Helena aan Zee, says: "We want to compliment RE:BORN for the beautiful result of the renovation of Seaview. It looks beautiful and is an asset to Scheveningen. We have confidence in RE:BORN as a developer and look forward to their other projects, such as De Pier in Scheveningen!"
66 flexible studios in classic look
The redeveloped Seaview is a function-free building, suitable for different purposes such as living, working and accommodation. Saman Mohammadi, co-owner RE:BORN says, "We have created a building that can adapt directly to the needs of its users. People who have been affected by fire, find themselves between homes, or expats coming to The Hague temporarily for a mission-in short, diverse target groups with housing needs that would normally put pressure on the generic Hague housing market-are given the opportunity here to house themselves temporarily. We call this the Wonen+ concept. Our building can easily adapt from a compact studio to a spacious apartment."

The exterior has a classic look, and upon entering, visitors are welcomed by a double-height entrance that creates a spacious impression, with a chandelier as an eye-catcher. The lobby offers meeting and rest space, as well as a wall of information about the neighborhood to encourage guests to learn about local Scheveningen life. The 66 new studios, spread over eight floors and ranging from one- and two-bedroom apartments to hotel rooms, are modernly decorated with natural materials and wood tones. All studios are equipped with a kitchen, have a balcony and some rooms offer extra space with a living room sitting area.
The aparthotel is managed entirely remotely by operator NUMA, eliminating the need for on-site staff 24/7. Guests can self-manage their stay and receive support via the NUMA app or WhatsApp if needed.
Milestone in sustainable urban development
Seaview is a nearly zero energy building, fully electric and equipped with special solar panels that generate heat in addition to electricity. By reusing materials from the original building, RE:BORN not only saved costs but also achieved a substantial ecological gain. Hennipman explains, "Circularity is a core value of our work. For Seaview, we achieved CO2 savings of approximately 65% compared to new construction. By reusing, we are not only contributing to a more sustainable future, but also improving the streetscape in Scheveningen."
Historic grandeur revived
Today's Seaview recalls the famous Hotel van Abeelen, which stood on this site in the early 20th century. After a fire in 1975, the hotel was demolished and made way for Seaview Offices. Together with architect SYNRG, RE:BORN revived the historic grandeur by adding modern architecture to the building and bringing back the distinctive little tower that serves as a landmark.
